Theresa, a week of giving and support does not make me dependent on others or someone living off of handouts.
Gifts are amazing but at the end of the day, they don’t pay my electric. Or WiFi. Or HOA. Groceries. Or anything.
Please keep that in mind. I’m deeply in struggle and I don’t appreciate being made out to take advantage of people when that’s the last thing I’d ever consider.
Especially after making thousands of videos of free content for years JUST to help others like me. I do hope to make this full time but don’t confuse that with living off of others in the meantime because it’s quite the opposite.
I hope you take care. 🤍
It's important to understand that receiving help or gifts, such as those from a week of giving and support, is not the same as living off handouts. Many times, people who are struggling financially face misconceptions that they are exploiting kindness rather than genuinely needing assistance. Struggles like paying for essential expenses—electric bills, WiFi, homeowners association fees, and groceries—are ongoing challenges that gifts alone cannot solve. Content creators, especially those producing free materials to help others, often face criticism for their financial hardships. While some accuse them of refusing to work or live independently, the reality is often more complex. Creating thousands of videos or other helpful content takes time and effort, and the journey to making this a full-time endeavor can be gradual. This means the support they receive temporarily bridges the gap while building toward sustainable income. Criticism about refusing to work overlooks the value of digital content creation and the effort put into building an online community. Many creators hope to transform their passion and expertise into viable careers, but in the meantime, they rely on community support as encouragement and practical help. Ultimately, caring about other people and understanding their situations requires empathy rather than judgment. Support should be seen as a bridge to independence—help that empowers rather than creates dependency. As a community, it's essential to recognize the boundaries between generosity and dependence and appreciate the efforts and struggles behind the scenes. By fostering a supportive environment that values creators' struggles and hard work, we can promote positive change and mutual respect. This perspective helps combat stigma and encourages more open conversations about financial challenges and pathways to self-sufficiency.
