It’s such a milestone, and instead of just letting it happen, I decided to create my own personal '30 Things Before 30' checklist. It's my way of embracing this new decade feeling prepared, empowered, and totally in control. If you're also nearing your thirties, or just looking for some motivation, maybe some of these resonate with you! Health & Wellness: Prioritizing My Body and Mind First up, personal well-being. This past year, I made it a non-negotiable to schedule an appointment with my gyno. It's easy to push these essential check-ups aside, but as we get older, preventative care becomes even more crucial. I also focused on finding a fitness routine that I actually enjoy, not just tolerate, and started meditating for five minutes every morning. Small changes, but they've made a huge difference in how I feel day-to-day. It’s all about building sustainable habits that will carry me through my thirties and beyond. Financial Fitness: Getting My Money in Order Turning 30 feels like a significant financial marker, so I dedicated time to getting my finances in tip-top shape. A major step was to check my credit score. It gave me a clear picture of where I stand and what I need to work on. I also set up an emergency fund, started contributing more consistently to my retirement savings, and finally, created a budget that I could actually stick to. It wasn't fun, but knowing I have a solid financial foundation feels incredibly liberating. Decluttering My Life: Physical & Mental Space One of the most satisfying things on my list was tackling all the lingering administrative tasks and clutter. You know those piles of unopened mail that accumulate, or the junk drawer that just keeps growing? I went through every single piece of mail, shredded what wasn't needed, and filed the rest. It sounds simple, but clearing that physical clutter also cleared a lot of mental space. I also purged my closet, donated clothes I hadn't worn in years, and even digital detoxed my phone by deleting unused apps and old photos. It’s amazing how much lighter you feel when your physical and digital spaces are organized. Personal Growth & Experiences: Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone Beyond the practicalities, I wanted to make sure my '30 Before 30' list included experiences that would help me grow. I took a solo weekend trip – something I'd always wanted to do but was a bit nervous about. I also started learning a new language (even if it's just beginner phrases for now!) and made a point to reconnect with old friends I hadn't seen in ages. These personal challenges and connections are what make life rich and exciting. It's not just about ticking boxes, but about creating memories and becoming the best version of myself for this next chapter. Completing this list isn't just about hitting a number; it's about intentional living and setting myself up for a fantastic new decade. It's a journey, not just a destination. What would be on your '30 Things Before 30' list?
