it’s ok if your spring cleaning isn’t “aesthetic” or a deep clean from already-clean.
it’s ok if you’re starting from struggle messes and doom piles.
the point is to get it to a more functional place for you, NOT perfection. ok, bestie? 🌸🧹✨
love you, mean it 🫶
Spring cleaning can often feel overwhelming, especially when starting from what some call 'struggle messes' or facing daunting 'doom piles' that seem impossible to tackle. From my own experience as someone who approaches cleaning with neurodivergent challenges, I've learned that the best way to make progress is to shift the goal from achieving perfection to creating a living space that simply works better for you. This means accepting that your cleaning journey might not look anything like the glossy, perfectly styled transformations often showcased online. For me, the focus has always been on improving functionality — clearing a pathway, organizing frequently used items, and making spaces easier to navigate. These small wins help reduce daily stress and make upkeep more manageable. Breaking down cleaning into smaller, focused areas like living rooms, kitchens, closets, or any space where clutter accumulates, can create achievable milestones. Voting or prioritizing these spaces, like choosing to focus on the living room first where most activities happen, helps maintain motivation. It's also important to acknowledge and respect your own pace and limitations, rather than pushing toward deep cleans if you're not up to it. Integrating tools like timers, checklists, or music can turn cleaning sessions into manageable and even enjoyable moments. Remember, spring cleaning is not about erasing our unique living stories but about making our homes a sanctuary that supports our well-being. Celebrate the progress you make — every cleared surface or sorted drawer is a meaningful victory towards a functional and comforting environment.
