My granny taught me how to clean ,gut , grill
Growing up watching my granny work in the kitchen was truly an invaluable experience. She taught me step-by-step not only how to clean and gut fish or poultry properly but also how to grill them to bring out the best flavors. One of the first lessons was handling fresh fish carefully — rinsing it thoroughly under cold water and removing all scales and innards without damaging the delicate flesh. My granny emphasized the importance of cleanliness and preparation to ensure that the food is both safe and delicious. When it came to gutting, she showed me how to make a precise incision and use gentle motions to remove the internal organs cleanly. This attention to detail helps minimize any bitter tastes and preserves the natural freshness. Lastly, grilling was her favorite part — she would season the fish or meat simply with salt, pepper, and sometimes fresh herbs, then cook it over moderate heat to achieve a crispy exterior while keeping the inside juicy. Following her traditional method, I learned that grilling is as much an art as it is a science. Knowing when to flip the food and how to manage the fire can make all the difference. Using this wisdom, I now enjoy preparing meals that not only honor my granny’s teachings but also bring family and friends together around the table.
