my fav journal spreads from this year
hello! these are some of my favorite journal spreads from this year :)
1. a simple page but i enjoy it so much. i think it really helps me look back and see how my music change has evolved through time and how it was actively influencing the things i wrote
2. album reviews! i have multiple of these throughout my entire journal, but this was the very first one i did :) still to this day i love this album, and its interesting to see how my thoughts on certain songs has changed
3. my monthly favorites! this is my FAV thing to do for my journal as it absolutely captivates how i have changed as a person month-to-month
4. junk journal spreads! my very first long term journal was actually a junk journal until i decided to combine a writing journal and junk journal into one (this one!) i have always and will always love making these spreads and they add something so visually appealing to your journals
5. my city bucket list: these are some places that i absolutely need to go to or need to do before i leave austin. im constantly adding more to it as i learn about more events so hopefully im able to finish it quickly!
6. another monthly spread! this one is my fav out of all the ones i have :)
7. receipts! so simple but i love compiling them to remind me of some purchases made that month
8. concert spread? the marÃas was one of my fav concerts i saw this year so i absolutely needed to make a spread that captivated the concert

Journaling has truly become one of my favorite ways to reflect and unleash my creativity. It's not just about writing down thoughts; it's about crafting a personal space that grows with you. If you've been wondering how to really fill your diary or what to jot down in your handwritten reflection notebook, I've got some tips that have helped me transform my pages from blank to beautiful. Sometimes, the blank page can be intimidating, right? I've found that starting with a "daily log" can be super helpful. Even just a few lines about your day, a mood tracker, or a quick win can make a handwritten journal entry feel less like a chore and more like a gentle check-in. Don't feel pressured to write long essays; short journal entries are perfectly fine and often more sustainable! For instance, rather than a full paragraph, you could list three things you're grateful for, one challenge you faced, or a single 'aha!' moment from your day. This approach is great for those busy days and helps build the habit consistently. Now, let's talk aesthetics! Making your journal visually appealing can really boost your motivation and make 'aesthetic journaling pictures' a reality. I love incorporating little bits of paper, like those charming receipts from Voodoo Doughnut, H-E-B, or Kinokuniya, or even packaging from a favorite product like Tower 28 or Clinique. These aren't just pretty embellishments; they're tiny time capsules that bring back memories of purchases and experiences! Stickers, washi tape, simple doodles, and even magazine cutouts can transform a plain page into a vibrant collage. Think about the mood you want to capture – a vibrant 'JUNE FAVORITES' or 'August favs' spread might use bright colors and playful stickers, while a travel journal's "first page ideas" could feature maps, stamps, or photos of your dream destinations to inspire future adventures. The key is to let your personality shine through without worrying about perfection. Themed spreads are another fantastic way to keep your journal exciting and address what to focus on. Beyond monthly favorites (which I adore for tracking personal growth in categories like songs, movies, and food!), consider specific events or interests. For instance, a 'travel journal first page idea' could be a vision board for your next adventure, or a detailed 'AUSTIN bucket list' like mine, filled with places you absolutely need to visit before you leave. You can also dedicate spreads to specific events or holidays, taking inspiration from the concept of an 'Eid bullet journal' by creating pages for celebrations, traditions, or reflections around these special times. And for all the music lovers out there, don't shy away from dedicating pages to your favorite tunes! I've had so much fun creating 'Playlist from this entry' pages, where I list songs that define a certain period, or diving deep into album reviews, like my first impressions of 'The Marias Submarine'. You can even pick a favorite lyric that resonates with your day, perhaps from 'bits of paper lyrics' or other songs, and build a spread around it. Documenting concert experiences, just like I did for 'THE MARIAS' show, with photos, ticket stubs, and written memories, creates an irreplaceable keepsake. It’s a wonderful way to connect with your emotions, track your evolving tastes, and preserve precious memories. Whether it’s a quick thought or a detailed dive, your journal is your personal space to explore and grow. Happy journaling!
