Some Negative shade work done on one of my clients

3/10 Edited to

... Read moreWhen it comes to enhancing a tattoo, negative shading is a subtle but powerful technique that can truly transform the overall look and feel of a design. From my experience working with clients, I’ve found that using negative space — areas left intentionally uninked — can add depth, contrast, and dynamic visual interest to tattoos without overloading the skin with dense ink. For instance, one memorable project involved integrating negative shading around a client’s existing tattoo. We carefully planned where to leave skin untouched to form shapes and highlights that interacted with the surrounding inked areas. This approach not only enhanced the tattoo's texture but also gave it a more three-dimensional quality. Incorporating elements like partial shading and gradual light-to-dark transitions with negative spaces can convey movement and highlight certain features, such as lettering or symbols. A notable tip is to focus on balance: too little negative space might make the piece look crowded, while too much can leave it feeling incomplete. Furthermore, I’ve noticed that including meaningful text or symbols near these shaded areas often elevates the tattoo’s personal significance. For example, phrases like "love you can achieve," subtly embedded within shaded zones, can add emotional depth that resonates deeply with clients. Overall, negative shading requires thoughtful placement and an eye for detail but can be a transformative addition that personalizes each client’s tattoo uniquely. If you’re a tattoo artist or enthusiast, experimenting with this technique could open new creative avenues while delivering a tattoo that stands out in style and story.

Text message is a super common way I communicate with my clients. It's less formal and just provides a more personal, trusting relationship. I use email and phone calls for the more serious matters and sending paperwork over. Here are some examples of real life texts I sent to my clients!! #
