The doll has to work tomorrow 😔 #cosplay #fyp #wriothesley #wriothesley #wriothesleygenshin
It's finally here! After weeks (or maybe months, who's counting? 😉) of planning, sewing, and crafting, my Wriothesley cosplay is officially ready for its debut tomorrow! When I first saw him in Genshin Impact, I knew I had to bring the Duke of the Fortress of Meropide to life. His stoic demeanor, powerful Cryo abilities, and that incredible character design just captivated me. One of the biggest undertakings was definitely his coat. It’s not just any coat; it’s got that signature fur trim, the intricate patterns, and the weight that gives him such an imposing presence. I spent a lot of time sourcing the right fabric – something that had a good drape but also held its shape. For the fur, I opted for a high-quality faux fur that looked realistic without being too heavy. Attaching it neatly was a challenge, requiring meticulous hand-stitching to get that seamless look. Then there were the gauntlets. Oh, the gauntlets! Wriothesley's hands are practically weapons, and his gauntlets are a crucial part of that look. I used a combination of EVA foam for the base structure and worbla for the more detailed, raised elements. Painting them to get that weathered, metallic sheen took several layers of primer, metallic paints, and a bit of weathering powder to make them look battle-worn. Don't forget the small details like the red gems! They really pop against the darker metal. His hair and makeup were also key. Wriothesley’s unique hairstyle required a specific wig styling technique to get that volume and shape, especially around the temples. For makeup, I focused on contouring to achieve his sharp jawline and subtle shading to emphasize his intense gaze. It’s all about enhancing natural features to match the character without looking overdone. My biggest tip for anyone planning a Wriothesley cosplay is to start early and break it down into manageable sections. Don't try to tackle everything at once! Focus on one element, perfect it, and then move to the next. Also, don't be afraid to experiment with materials. What works for one cosplayer might not work for another, and sometimes the best solutions come from trial and error. And always, always do a full costume test-run before your event. You don't want any surprises on the day! Cosplaying Wriothesley has been an incredible journey, full of learning and a few late nights, but seeing it all come together is so rewarding. I can't wait to step into his shoes and embody the Duke tomorrow. Wish me luck!
