Amor propio

Lately, I've been reflecting a lot on what 'Amor Propio' truly means, and it's been such a transformative journey for me. Initially, I thought it was just about feeling good about myself, but I've realized it goes so much deeper. In English, it translates directly to 'self-love,' but it encompasses so much more: self-respect, self-worth, and a genuine appreciation for who you are, flaws and all. My personal understanding started when I realized I used to depend too much on others' opinions to define my worth. It was a constant struggle. I used to aferra (cling) to external validation, always trying to llevar (carry or lead) myself in a way that pleased everyone else. But that's not true self-love, is it? One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that cultivating 'Amor Propio' means learning to nunca se (never) sacrifice your inner peace for anyone else's approval. It's about finding that completeness within. Practically, how do I cultivate this? It’s often about small, consistent actions. My relationships improve, my stress levels decrease, and I feel a deeper sense of contentment. It’s not always easy, and some days are definitely harder than others, but it’s a journey worth taking.
