Now, if you're wondering which scenic spots truly capture Beijing's historical and cultural cohesion, you're in for a treat! First on everyone's list has to be the magnificent Forbidden City. Walking through its grand gates makes you feel like you've stepped back in time to imperial China. It's massive, so wear comfy shoes and allow a whole day. Nearby, you'll find Tiananmen Square, a place of immense historical significance. For an awe-inspiring experience, a trip to the Great Wall is essential. Many students choose Badaling or Mutianyu for their accessibility. Mutianyu, in particular, offers breathtaking views and a fun cable car or toboggan ride down. It’s incredible to walk along such an ancient wonder, imagining centuries of history unfolding beneath your feet. Another gem is the Temple of Heaven, a stunning complex where emperors performed rituals for good harvests. The architecture is incredible, and you can often see locals practicing Tai Chi or dancing in the park – a wonderful chance to observe daily life.
