Maw-sit-sit is a precious material that is so colorful and patterned that it makes many people, including new collectors, often confused, also called Jadeite because of its similar origin, but geologically, mosite is classified as a metamorphic rock composed of many minerals, not single minerals such as common gadeite.
# # # History and discovery
The discovery of the mosite was initiated in 1934 by H.L. Chhibber, a geologist who documented the fragility of the rock in his book Mineral Resources of Burma as a dark green jedite used to make low-cost jewelry.
In 1964, Dr. Eduard J.Gübelin surveyed the Tawmaw area and nominated it from a nearby village than many of the names initially used, such as "Albyte Jedi," until 1997, in which Prof. Dr. Henry A. Hänni presented new information that endorsed its background in gemology.
# # # Mineralogical composition
Mositsit is highly minerally complex with a variable proportion of elements in each lump, with the fresh green being due to its large chromium content. The main constituent mineral samples include:
- * * Cosmochlor (Kosmochlor): * * Fresh green that may account for up to 60%.
- * * Chromian Jadeite (Chromian Jadeite): * * Causes dark green.
- * * Lablite with Chromian Albite: * * may be found in different amounts.

Physical properties vary depending on the components:

Mositsit was found only in northern Mianma, caused by geological processes under specific conditions.
