The Late Middle Ages saw the rise of new trade routes, the blossoming of humanism leading into the Renaissance, and significant technological advancements. It wasn't a sudden stop, but a gradual shift where the foundational structures of the medieval world began to transform into something new. Think about it: the printing press, gunpowder, and new navigation techniques all set the stage for a completely different world. Exploring the medieval time period has truly broadened my perspective. It wasn't just a 'dark age' as it's sometimes portrayed, but a vibrant and complex era that laid much of the groundwork for the world we live in today. From its distinct meaning and vast timeline to the incredible stories of people like Eleanor of Aquitaine and the far-reaching impact of the Crusades, there's always something new to discover.
