Exhausted mom club
Working full time and being a full time mom is exhausting 😮💨 but so worth it 🫶🏼! Rant: my body carried a human for 9 months, and I forget that I need to give myself grace for looking like it! It took 9 months to grow, why do we as mothers expect to snap back so fast??
Our babies love us. If they could tell us in our hour of need, deep into postpartum depression, when we feel lonely, they would. We are their world!
Screw the laundry and dishes, if that baby takes a nap go curl up on the couch and read a book, drink some coffee, eat something yummy or take a nap with them. We also need some time to unwind from all the craziness of the day. Take care of yourself mama🩷🩵
Being an exhausted mom isn't just about physical tiredness; it's a mental and emotional marathon too. I remember asking myself constantly, 'Am I doing enough?' and 'What if I fail her?' It’s so easy to fall into that trap of self-doubt, especially when adapting to these new identities motherhood brings. But let me tell you, mama, those feelings are normal. Every single one of us has been there, feeling the overwhelming nature of motherhood. It's truly a universal experience that binds us together in this 'exhausted mom club.' Beyond just catching a nap when you can (which is golden, by the way!), there are other small, impactful ways to reclaim a little peace. When I feel completely overstimulated by the constant noise, touches, and demands, I’ve learned to implement mini-breaks. Sometimes it’s just stepping into another room for five minutes, putting on some headphones with calming music or a podcast, or even just focusing on my breath for a minute. These aren't luxurious spa days, but they are lifelines that help reset my nervous system. Don't underestimate the power of a hot shower alone! Another huge game-changer for me was letting go of the need for perfection. The original post is spot on: screw the laundry and dishes! Prioritizing my mental health over a spotless home was a revelation. Instead of beating myself up for not 'snapping back' physically after carrying a human for nine months, or having a perfectly organized house, I shifted my focus. My body did an incredible thing; that's a superpower! It’s okay if my priorities look different now, and it’s okay if yours do too. We mothers put so much pressure on ourselves to do it all, and it's simply unsustainable. Learn to delegate or ask for help – whether it's your partner taking the baby for an hour, or a friend dropping off a meal. That support is crucial. If you’re feeling lonely in this journey, please reach out. Motherhood can feel incredibly isolating, even when you're surrounded by tiny humans. Connect with other moms online, join a local group, or just text a friend who truly gets it. Sharing those raw, honest moments makes you realize you're part of a massive, supportive 'Exhausted Mom Club.' We're all in this together, navigating the profound, mutual need between us and our little ones. Remember that 'HEY MAMA' graphic? It’s a powerful reminder that you are seen, you are valued, and you are doing an amazing job, even when it doesn't feel like it. Give yourself grace, always. Your worth isn't measured by how clean your floor is or how quickly you shed baby weight, but by the incredible love and care you pour into your family every single day.
