What stereotype are you tired of seeing in movies?

The high school scene in EVERY movie. Jocks throwing the football, all the other cliques spread out over the extravagant lawn area, etc.

They always show this at the start of the day too. When I was In my high-school there was nobody just hanging out in the morning. Conversation was sparse. It was just tired, grumpy people trying to navigate through the hallways and get to class on time.

... Read moreMovies often fall into repetitive tropes that fail to represent the diversity of real-life experiences. High school dramas frequently illustrate a simplistic social hierarchy, with jocks, nerds, and cheerleaders playing exaggerated roles that don't resonate with actual student life. Many viewers express frustration over these portrayals, noting that high school is more nuanced than just cliques and stereotypical roles. Commonly seen scenes of students socializing on lawns during early hours raise questions about authenticity; in reality, many students arrive at school ready to tackle a busy day rather than socialize. Furthermore, these stereotypes can perpetuate harmful narratives, shaping perceptions of youth culture in a non-constructive manner. It is essential for filmmakers to diversify their storytelling, showing a full spectrum of characters and relationships. Engaging in discussions about these portrayals not only highlights viewer dissatisfaction but also encourages creators to push boundaries, presenting stories that reflect true-to-life scenarios. What oversimplified stereotypes do you wish to see changed in filmmaking?

Autism (much like neurotypicality) comes with pros and cons. Throw in some ADHD hyperfocus and things get wacky. On a serious note, it is a stereotype that all autistics have savant abilities - or that those that do will have an ability that has value in the eyes of our capitalistic society. Many
