Rue
My original character #drawn #oc #drawingsbyme
Hey everyone! I'm so excited you clicked to learn more about my original character, Rue! I poured a lot of love into bringing her to life, and I'm thrilled to share a bit more about her world and how she came to be. It’s always been a dream of mine to create unique characters, and Rue is definitely one of my favorites. When I first started sketching ideas for Rue, I knew I wanted her to be a mix of playful and a little bit mysterious. That's why I gave her those distinctive cat ears and a fluffy tail – I just adore characters with animal features, they add so much personality! Her brown hair felt like a natural choice, giving her a grounded, approachable vibe, but with a mischievous sparkle in her eyes. I pictured her as someone who's always up for an adventure, maybe a little bit sassy, but with a heart of gold. She's the kind of original character who would brighten anyone's day with her cheerful "Hi I'm RUE!" greeting, which you might have seen in one of her initial concept drawings. Choosing her outfit was another fun part of the process. I experimented with a few color palettes, but settled on the purple and grey attire because I felt it perfectly captured her essence. Purple often symbolizes creativity and imagination, which is definitely a trait Rue embodies. The grey balances it out, giving her a sleek, modern look. I imagine her clothing is practical for her daily antics, whether she's exploring magical forests or just hanging out with friends. It’s always a challenge to make an outfit look good while also reflecting the character's functionality and style, but I think the purple and grey really hit the mark for Rue. For anyone out there thinking of creating their own original character, I’d say start with a feeling or a core concept. Don't worry about perfection right away. My process usually involves a lot of messy sketches and brainstorming sessions. I think about their backstory, their favorite things, their biggest fears – even if these details don't make it into every drawing, they help make the character feel real to me. Rue actually has a funny backstory involving a forgotten spellbook and a mischievous sprite, but I'll save that for another post! I'm really passionate about drawing and character design, and sharing Rue with you all is incredibly rewarding. Seeing her evolve from a simple sketch to a fully realized original character with her own unique look, including those expressive cat ears and swishy tail, has been an amazing journey. I'm already thinking about her next adventures and what new outfits she might wear. Perhaps something with more vibrant colors for a summer look? Or maybe a more stealthy outfit for a nighttime quest? The possibilities are endless! What do you think of Rue? I'd love to hear your thoughts or if you have any questions about her! Creating OCs is such a personal and fulfilling artistic endeavor. Keep an eye out for more updates on Rue's world!
