I’m just really not that chill of a mom I guess. #morgankaleb #sahm #summerbreak #momlife
Being a mom who admits she’s not always chill can be both freeing and challenging. I’ve found that embracing this reality rather than fighting it has helped me connect more authentically with my kids. Summer break often idealizes calm and effortless fun, but the truth is, it can also be hectic and overwhelming for stay-at-home moms (SAHM). Personally, I’ve experienced times when patience runs thin, schedules get scrambled, and the quest for the perfect summer day feels out of reach. Yet, these moments have taught me valuable lessons in self-compassion and flexibility. For instance, instead of striving for ideal calmness, I try to prioritize small wins like inventive indoor activities or quick outdoor adventures that suit our energy levels. I’ve also learned the importance of community, whether it’s connecting with other moms who understand the ups and downs or sharing #momlife tips and stories online. These interactions remind me that it’s okay not to be the 'chill' mom portrayed on social media — real motherhood includes chaos and unpredictability. Lastly, balancing my own needs with those of my children is crucial. Taking short breaks to recharge helps me return refreshed and more patient. Summer break might not always be laid-back, but with honesty and adaptability, it can still be a memorable and nurturing time for families.
