Low Mess Activity That’s Giving Spring

🌈 We love a fun activity that can be done indoors when it’s cold- especially since the only mess is water 💧 Double points since this can also be used as a literacy activity when pairing it with “The Rainbow Fish” (a beloved classic!!) 🌈🐠

🌈Older children learning scissor skills can also be given the chance to cut the fish out! If they aren’t there yet with their scissor skills you can keep it super basic and have your kiddo simply cut tissue paper into squares for this activity! The fun can start in the prep!!

One such activity involves the use of tissue paper to create colorful fish, combining art with literacy. This not only provides a fun creative outlet but also serves as an engaging way to reinforce scissor skills as children cut out fish shapes from the paper. For younger kids, tearing tissue paper into squares is a simple alternative that still promotes fine motor skills. Utilizing a spray bottle or dropper filled with water, children can apply the tissue pieces to mixed media paper, watching as the colors blend and soak into the paper—a delightful and interactive sensory experience. Incorporating reading time during the drying process can enhance the activity further. 'The Rainbow Fish', a treasured children's book, teaches valuable lessons about sharing and friendship, making it a suitable companion for this craft. This dual-focused approach not only makes the activity enjoyable but also enriches children's learning experience, promoting both artistic expression and literacy. By tailoring activities to be screen-free and using readily available materials, parents and educators can foster creativity and learning in a low-mess environment. Additionally, this activity can easily be scaled in complexity to cater to various age groups, ensuring all children can partake in the fun while developing essential skills.
