HOW TO MAKE MY FAV TOFFEE BAR DESSERT! 🍫

INGREDIENTS

1 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 egg yolk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp salt

2 1/2 cups flour

2 XL Hershey’s Bars

DIRECTIONS

1. Mix all ingredients and bake in a greased 9x13” pan for 20 min. at 350F

2. Lay Hershey’s bars on top to melt and spread. Leave a 1/4” crust so chocolate doesn’t dry to the pan

3. Top with ground walnuts (optional)

4. Cut the bars when the chocolate has firmed up but isn’t solid!

One thing I've learned from trial and error is the importance of pressing the dough firmly and evenly into your *greased 9x13 pan*. This ensures consistent baking and prevents thinner spots from burning. The 20 minutes at 350F is usually spot on, but every oven can be a little different, so keep an eye on the edges turning golden. Trust me, it's worth it for that golden-brown base! Now, for the chocolate layer – this is my favorite part! Spreading all that chocolatey goodness around immediately after taking the pan out of the oven is key.
