Pepper’s Story

Pepper is so happy for you guys to finally meet him! He can’t wait to have more friends :) Dallas

I got Pepper about 4-5 years ago from a shelter near me. He was found on the street covered in mattes, mud and eating out of the trash… in the rain. Right when I saw him in the shelter I knew he was the one. When I took him outside to play with him and officially meet him I knew I had made the right choice. Pepper instantly smiled and started frolicking around!

About a week after getting him, we got a call from the shelter telling us that his original owners saw him online and wanted him back, they said he was their daughter’s emotional support animal. As sad as this made me, I knew the right thing to do was bring him back to meet with them, even though I had the choice of declining. The shelter told us that they would ask for picture proof and then we would see how he acted with the presumed owners once they arrived. We were supposed to meet at 1PM.

1:45 rolls around and they still aren’t there, nor have they called or texted to tell us they would be late. The shelter told us to leave. “This is your dog. Go, if they wanted him they would have showed up on time or had the decency to call and tell us they would be late”.

I’m so glad that they never showed up because without Pepper I wouldn’t know what it’s like to have someone there for you all the time. When I feel like I have no one else, I know I have Pepper. He’s always excited to see me. I know he loves me and he’s not afraid to show it. Pepper is literally my best friend and I love him so much. He’s my silly, awkward, anxious and handsome boy. He’s the best!

I guess it’s true what they say, a dog really is man’s best friend, or in this case a girls best friend.
