You figure something out and immediately realize there are fifteen more layers underneath it. Then you get on a different horse and something you thought you understood suddenly feels completely different.

Twenty years around horses and I still have rides where something tiny clicks and I’m like OH. That’s what everyone meant.

I hope that never stops happening. #equestrian @Kerrits @Shires Equestrian USA

... Read moreRiding horses is truly a lifelong learning experience. Over the years, I’ve realized that each horse has its own personality and nuances, which means that techniques that worked with one might not apply to another. This constant variation keeps the experience fresh and exciting. One insight that surprised me early on is how important subtle communication is between rider and horse. Even the slightest change in posture or pressure can convey a completely different message. It’s like learning a new language that evolves continuously. The phrase from the OCR, "I don't think you ever really 'finish' learning how to ride horses," resonates deeply. It highlights that equestrian skills are layered and multidimensional. Sometimes, a small breakthrough in understanding will unlock a new level of riding ability, but then you quickly realize there are many more aspects to explore. Personally, I’ve found that seeking guidance from mentors and engaging with the equestrian community helps uncover these hidden layers. Participating in forums, training sessions, and trying different riding styles has broadened my perspective. Ultimately, the joy in riding isn’t just in reaching a destination but in embracing the ongoing journey. Each ride is an opportunity to learn something new, keep challenging yourself, and build a stronger bond with your horse. I hope every rider gets to experience those moments where everything clicks and you truly feel connected.
