When I set out to write a retelling of Red Riding Hood, I wanted facets of feminine strength to be at its center. Princess Mononoke was a massive inspiration for Rowan, who doesn’t compromise on her values and stays true to who she is. She’s one of my favorite FMCs I’ve written, and I hope you love her as much as I do. 🖤🐺

... Read moreThe Book of Wolves stands out in the young adult fantasy genre by reimagining the classic Red Riding Hood tale through the lens of feminine strength and empowerment. The protagonist, Rowan, draws inspiration from iconic characters like Princess Mononoke, embodying a fierce, uncompromising spirit that resonates deeply with readers seeking relatable and strong female leads. This story skillfully weaves themes of feminine rage, morality, and romance, creating complex characters such as a physically strong female main character (FMC) and a morally gray, yet flirty male main character (MMC) who falls deeply and swiftly in love. The novel explores the dynamics of forced proximity and found family, enriching the narrative beyond traditional fairy tale retellings. Additionally, the book touches on popular tropes cherished in the 'fantasy romance' and 'book boyfriend' communities, making it a prime recommendation within booktok and indie author circles. It’s praised for its authentic portrayal of relationships marked by tension and tenderness, balancing dark and light character traits. Readers interested in supporting independent bookstores can find exclusive merchandise and editions at The Crafty Bookstore and Salient Books, with accessibility extending to digital platforms like Kindle Unlimited and Kay-You.
