Chloé Bourgeois Speedpaint 🐝🍯

When I start a piece like this, especially for a character as iconic as Chloé, I always begin with a rough sketch, often on a new Layer 1 in IbisPaint. I love using a Coarse Pencil brush for this – it gives a nice, traditional feel before I dive into the digital details. I might even use a Reference image on my Canvas to get her proportions just right, because even with fanart, capturing the essence of the character is key! One of my favorite parts of digital art is how much control you have. For the line art, I often switch to a Pen (Fade) brush. It gives a really clean, crisp line that tapers beautifully, making the drawing feel more dynamic. And when it comes to coloring, I swear by the Lasso Fill tool! It’s a lifesaver for quickly blocking in large areas of color without going outside the lines. After I lay down the base colors on my Current Layer, I start thinking about shading. This is where Opacity settings become my best friend. I'll use a soft Airbrush (Triangle) with a lower opacity to gradually build up shadows and highlights, giving Chloé’s hair and clothes that lovely depth. And of course, making sure Anti-aliasing is on helps keep everything looking super smooth and professional, especially for those sharp edges on her outfit.
