... Read morePostpartum depression (PPD) is often an overlooked but very real condition that many new mothers face. From my own experience and talking to others in support groups, it’s clear that acknowledging PPD is the first vital step toward healing. Despite the intense joy brought by a new baby, feelings of sadness, anxiety, or loss of “spark” can emerge unexpectedly and can feel isolating. One thing I learned early on is that PPD is not about weakness or failure—it's a medical condition that arises due to hormonal changes, exhaustion, and sudden lifestyle shifts. Personally, I remember moments where I felt disconnected from my baby and feared I wouldn’t feel that happy spark again. However, by seeking help from healthcare providers and connecting with other moms who shared similar experiences, I gradually found my way back to emotional balance. Support can come in many forms: therapy, medication when recommended, leaning on family and friends, or joining local or online communities of first-time moms. Self-care is also crucial—simple acts like setting aside time for rest, nutrition, or even moments of mindfulness helped me regain strength. If you’re a new mom struggling with feelings of sadness or despair, know that you are not alone and that PPD is a valid experience deserving of empathy and treatment. Sharing our stories helps reduce stigma and creates a supportive space where healing can begin. Remember, you won’t lose your spark permanently—recovery is possible, and brighter days will come.

I used to think there were all these rules: you have to have a corporate job, you have to have timelines and deadlines, and that if I was unhappy because of my job that was normal, no one loves to work in corporate America… But then I quit and I realized how good using my free will feels. I’m final

Survived PPD getting my pink back 🌸✨🤍
🤍 my name is Selena, I have two daughters ages 3, & 1. I was diagnosed with infertility/ PCOS at the age of 22. (28 now) 🤍 growing up I didn’t have my mom around due to her drug addiction, so my aunt adopted me which I’m forever grateful for but that house lacked a lot of emotional support.

If there’s one thing that I both love and hate about my therapist, it’s that she pushes me to do things anyway. I can’t tell you how many plans I’ve broken, how many nice days I’ve let pass us by, or how many times I’ve declined an adventure out of fear from the post-partum scaries. The what ifs.

Overcoming PPD/Anxiety 😢
Some of these things that I’ve mentioned seem like common sense when you think about it. But it’s the CONSISTENCY that makes them helpful in your postpartum journey. After my second miscarriage in 2020 I was diagnosed with PPD/PPA & Postpartum OCD. Covid didn’t help with all of the pressure
