A Letter To My Past Self... 8 Years Ago
A letter to my past self, a time when she really needed it. I am writing this letter to me, 8 years ago, I had just started college and was feeling more lost than ever. I had just gone through a breakup, didn't know who I was, didn't have many friends, shut off from the world, unwilling to accept change, lost my sparkle.
Now 8 years later I am still continuing to feel lost but in a much better way. I think we are all lost a little bit throughout each stage of life. But I am working my dream job, in a loving relationship, have my soul dog, moved to a new city that I love, and more secure with myself.
But to her:
It's okay that life feels like it sucks. Life can be sucky! People are going to do you dirty no matter how you are to them. It seems impossible, it seems like the pain won't end and this is how it is going to be. That may be true but this is not forever. The last thing you want to do is find the light and enjoy this time but that is exactly what you should do. Good comes out of every situation. Romanticize any little thing that makes you happy throughout the day. DON'T REJECT FRIENDSHIP. You need to let people in. Whether these people are here for a reason, a season, or a lifetime, you gotta let people in. You need people right now. You're going to look back on this and wish you said yes to that text message. Life is going to get better, I promise. This time is going to go by FAST whether it feels like it now or not. But time tells a lot. You will figure out who you are and who you want to be. You have to try things along the way. Try activities, subjects, new friends, relationships, you have to try. No effort means no growth. You just have to keep going or you won't know how good it can get. Imposter syndrome is inevitable but you're going to be so happy some day.
Everything works out. What is meant to be, will be.
