EASY and CHEAP Argy/Griffin Trap

Hey everyone! So, if you're like me, you've probably spent countless hours chasing down Argentavis on ARK, only to have them fly off or get into a fight with another dino. It's incredibly frustrating, especially when you're going for that perfect high-level tame. That's why building a simple trap is an absolute game-changer. I recently tried out this super effective Argentavis trap design, and I have to say, it made the whole process incredibly smooth and stress-free. This design, which mainly uses pillars and ceilings, is surprisingly resource-friendly. You'll generally need around 16 stone pillars and 9 stone ceilings for a functional trap. The beauty of it is that it's just enough to contain even larger flyers without breaking your resource bank, keeping it really cheap to build. The basic idea is to create an enclosed space that the Argentavis can fly into, but can't fly out of once you place the final pieces. It's a classic funneling technique that works wonders. First, start by laying down a few ceilings on the ground – these will form the base. Then, around the edges of these ceilings, place your pillars. The key is to stack them two high. So, you'll have a base layer of ceilings, and then the pillars create the walls. Make sure you can easily walk into and out of the structure yourself, but leave enough space for the Argy to enter. Next, you'll place more ceilings on top of the two-high pillars, effectively creating a roof. Leave one side completely open for the entrance. The OCR mentioned 'Flip PILLARS WHEREVER YOU CAN PLACE THEM', which implies a bit of flexibility in the exact layout, but the general principle is to create a secure box with one open side. The crucial part is the entrance. You want to make it easy for the Argentavis to fly in, but hard for it to fly out. The design often involves placing a few extra pillars or doorframes around the entrance to guide the creature in, or even leaving a small ramp or gap at ground level if you're kiting it on foot. Once the main structure is up, you'll have an open-sided box. This is where the luring comes in. Now for the fun part: luring your target! Find an Argentavis you want to tame. Get its attention – you can shoot it with a tranquilizer arrow or just fly close enough to aggro it. You want it to follow you directly into your trap. Fly or run through the open entrance, and as soon as the Argy is fully inside, quickly turn around and place those final two pillars or a doorframe to seal the entrance. The OCR image clearly shows the Argy 'FLIES INTO HERE' and then 'IT CAN'T GET OUT'. That's the moment of truth! Make sure you have those final pieces ready to snap into place instantly. I always keep my building hotbar ready for this. With the Argentavis safely trapped (like my awesome Bonnie, who's now a high-level beast!), you can calmly begin the taming process. No more frantic chasing! Use your tranquilizer darts or arrows from a safe distance. Having a clear shot really helps with torpor management. Remember to bring plenty of kibble (superior kibble is best for Argys), narcotics, and food to maintain its torpor once it's knocked out. Having a trapped dino makes managing its unconsciousness much easier, as you don't have to worry about it wandering off or being attacked by other predators. This method drastically reduces the risk of losing your tame, saves a ton of time and resources, and allows you to focus purely on the taming efficiency.
