Breaking a regular 16 hour fast

Here’s what I ate to break a regular 16 hour fast

Left over chili

Some mixed veggies (yellow squash, zucchini, red bell pepper, red onions)

Burger patty with Swiss cheese

Some snacks! Popcorn, dried apple slices and kettle chips for crunch.

I’m hoping that the kettle chips don’t give me a reaction. Although I’m assuming my bottom lip starting to swell has something to do with it 😢

The food choices you make will impact not only your energy levels but also how your body feels afterwards. When breaking your fast, it’s crucial to start with lighter foods that are easy to digest, such as vegetable-based options and healthy proteins. For example, incorporating mixed veggies like yellow squash, zucchini, and bell peppers can provide your body with vitamins and minerals essential for recovery. Consider adding a protein source, such as lean meats or a plant-based alternative, to keep yourself satiated. It's advisable to avoid heavy or overly processed foods initially, as they can cause discomfort or digestive issues. For instance, while kettle chips may seem tempting, they might lead to adverse reactions as you've experienced. Instead, snacks such as popcorn or dried fruits offer a satisfying crunch without overwhelming your system. Always listen to your body and adjust your post-fasting meals accordingly. Monitor how different foods affect you, and keep a balanced approach to maintain overall well-being and energy.
