I have no neutral thoughts
When A Course In Miracles says I have no neutral thoughts, the first thing I think of is what HW Percival said in his book Thinking and Destiny: “thoughts are beings.” Assuming this to be true, I can see just how much of my co-creative power I have been misapplying. ACIM shows me that every thought I think has an effect: either aligning with truth or reinforcing illusion. There’s no middle ground where my thinking doesn’t matter.
While sometimes overwhelming, this isn’t a reason for guilt—it’s an invitation to responsibility. What feels like an external problem often begins as an internal choice I didn’t realize I was making. But when I recognize that no thought is neutral, I become more attentive, more honest, more willing to listen.
I’m reminded of the 1998 Hallmark miniseries Merlin. After years of back and forth, he finally defeats Queen Mab, not through spells or sorcery, but by simply turning his back on her and refusing to pay her any attention. Like Mab, what I withdraw belief from fades. I don’t need to fight my thoughts or try to control them. I only need to notice which ones I’m feeding.
