A Course In Miracles Lesson 79
Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved.
🌿 It is easy to believe the problem is outside of us.
Circumstances.
Opportunities.
The past.
Reentry especially can make the external world feel like the obstacle.
It can seem as though the path forward is blocked by things already written into the record of our lives.
But the Course points the mind in a different direction.
The real problem is not the events that occurred.
The problem is the meaning the mind continues to assign to them.
If I believe the past defines me, then every new situation becomes evidence that the story cannot change.
But if the problem is in perception, then the solution becomes possible in the same place.
Perception can shift.
And when perception shifts, the landscape of the future begins to change with it.
I am MovingStill.
Having delved deeply into Lesson 79, I find it profoundly impactful to reflect on how our minds often misinterpret problems as external circumstances, when in fact, the crux lies within our perceptions. It’s a liberating realization—understanding that no matter what challenges arise, if we can change the meaning we assign to those events, our whole experience can shift. In my personal journey, I've noticed that when I fully accept this teaching, my stress towards recurring difficulties eases considerably. Obstacles that once seemed immovable, especially those linked to my past or life's complex situations, lose their grip. For instance, reentry into old patterns or environments can feel restrictive, as though my future is predetermined by history. Yet, by recognizing that the 'problem' is the continuing mental narrative rather than the past events themselves, I find freedom to rewrite my story. Practicing the recommended approach—pausing to acknowledge the problem without immediately defining it—helps to quiet the mind's rush to judgment. This openness invites insight and solution from a higher awareness, which the workbook emphasizes. I often close my eyes and internally ask, "What is this problem really?" This simple act reduces anxiety and brings clarity, allowing the breakthrough perception shift that Lesson 79 points to. Moreover, this teaching resonates with universal themes across spiritual paths: the importance of perception and the mind’s power to shape reality. The acknowledgement that all worldly problems are facets of one underlying challenge – separation – allows for a unified approach to healing. Recognizing this unity encourages compassion not only towards oneself but also towards others, easing feelings of isolation. Implementing these insights day to day requires patience and practice, but the reward is immense. Each time I catch myself attributing problems solely to external causes, I remind myself to "recognize the problem so it can be solved," as the lesson so simply instructs. This mantra anchors my efforts to remain present and open to transformation. Over time, this practice shifts not only my internal landscape but also how I engage with the world around me, making it a powerful tool for lasting peace and spiritual growth.
