Epilepsy awareness month!
November is epilepsy awareness month! Please share awareness, I feel like it’s one of those disabilities people don’t really talk about much. If you don’t know I was diagnosed with epilepsy in August and it’s been such a hard journey. I still have seizures even with meds and have to see a specialist. It’s completely changed my life. I am hoping to become seizure free one day.
https://epilepsylosangeles.org, a good LA resource for these with epilepsy.
I also use Epsy app (it’s free!) and a great way to track your seizures and meds. It also gives articles to help you learn and understand what epilepsy is.

November marks National Epilepsy Awareness Month (NEAM), a vital opportunity to increase public understanding and support for those affected by epilepsy. Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by unpredictable seizures that can greatly impact daily life. Despite its prevalence, epilepsy often remains misunderstood and under-discussed, leading to stigma and isolation for many. The Epilepsy Foundation of Los Angeles offers valuable resources throughout NEAM and beyond. Their website provides educational materials, community events, and support networks tailored for individuals living with epilepsy and their families. Connecting with such organizations can empower people to manage their condition proactively and advocate for themselves. Technology is also playing a significant role in epilepsy care. The free Epsy app mentioned is an excellent tool for tracking seizures, medication schedules, and triggers. It also delivers informative articles to help users better understand epilepsy and its management, which is essential for improved health outcomes. Users can easily share data with specialists, enhancing personalized treatment plans. Living with epilepsy, as shared by the article’s author, can be a challenging journey involving ongoing medical management and emotional resilience. Despite medication, seizures may continue, requiring specialist care and constant vigilance. However, awareness campaigns like NEAM encourage communities to spread accurate information, reduce misconceptions, and foster more inclusive environments. For those newly diagnosed or supporting loved ones, knowledge is power. Attending awareness events, accessing trustworthy resources like epilepsyfoundationlosangeles.org, and using supportive tools can help improve quality of life. Sharing personal stories and joining hashtags such as #myneamaction, #epilepsyawareness, and #spreadtheword strengthens community bonds and raises visibility. In summary, participating in Epilepsy Awareness Month not only celebrates resilience but also opens pathways for education, empathy, and hope. By amplifying voices and resources, we can help make strides toward a future where seizure freedom and better treatments are attainable for all living with epilepsy.
