Stepping onto campus for that first week of college, whether it's your freshman year or you're returning for sophomore year, always kicks off a unique experience. I remember feeling a mix of excitement and a tiny bit of overwhelm! That initial week truly sets the tone for everything that follows, and it's where you start building the framework of your university life. For me, one of the biggest parts of that first week was getting back into the swing of academics. It's different from high school โ the classes, the workload, and the professors' expectations. I spent a good chunk of time mapping out my study schedule and getting familiar with the library, even though I also made sure to schedule in some fun downtime. Like many of us, I found myself unwinding with a game like 'THE MORTUARY ASSISTANT' on my MacBook Air, a great way to de-stress after a day of lectures and readings. Beyond the books, the social aspect of that first week was massive. It's all about making connections and finding your people. I was so glad to reunite with old friends, and we quickly started making new memories. We joined some campus gatherings on the grassy areas at dusk, just hanging out under the cloudy sky, and even had a blast playing a giant Jenga game outdoors! These moments, often captured as 'College Highlights,' really shaped my initial experience and helped me feel more at home. Taking walks along the paved paths between the brick college buildings as the sun set, painting the sky with soft pink and orange hues, was also incredibly peaceful and helped me reflect on the day. My advice for anyone kicking off their university experience would be to embrace every moment. Don't be afraid to try new things, join clubs, or just strike up conversations with people in your classes or dorm. Balance your studies with social activities, and don't forget to take care of yourself. That first week might feel like a whirlwind, but itโs the foundation for all the incredible experiences and personal growth that university life has to offer.
