... Read moreOMG, I did it again! After weeks of thinking about it, I finally dyed my hair and I'm obsessed with the results! This time, I went for some super cute pink peekaboo highlights that just pop against my wavy, light brown hair. It's such a fun way to add a splash of color without going all out, and I love how they peek out when I move my hair. For these pink beauties, I used Manic Panic hair dye, which is always my go-to for vibrant, semi-permanent colors. A lot of you ask about using Manic Panic hair dye on dark hair, and while my base is light brown, I've had friends use it on darker shades. The key for truly vibrant results, especially with colors like pink or purple, is usually a bit of pre-lightening. Even for my light brown, I lifted a few sections just a little to make sure the pink really screamed! If you have dark hair, consider a very gentle bleach bath for the sections you want to color – just be super careful and do a strand test! Manic Panic itself is conditioning, which is a huge plus. The peekaboo technique is fantastic because it's relatively low commitment. You only bleach and color the under-sections of your hair. This makes root touch-ups less frequent and gives you a subtle surprise element. I sectioned off the bottom layers of my hair, applied the pink, let it sit for about an hour (I like intense color!), and rinsed with cold water. The result? Stunning pink highlights! Beyond my pink adventure, I've been eyeing other cool dye trends. Have you seen the half purple half black hair look? It’s so edgy and bold! It involves splitting your hair down the middle and dyeing each side a different color. It’s definitely a statement and requires precise sectioning. Or what about a 3 color hair dye technique? This could be anything from a subtle ombré fade with three complementary shades to chunky color blocks. Imagine combining a deep purple, a vibrant pink, and a soft blue! It's all about creativity and careful application to avoid muddying the colors. And for all the guys out there wondering about mens purple hair dye – yes, absolutely go for it! Purple is such a versatile color, from deep indigos to bright lavenders. It looks amazing on shorter cuts, adding an unexpected pop. The application might be a bit easier on shorter hair, but the same rules apply: pre-lighten if you want it super bright, and use a good color-safe shampoo. Maintaining these bright colors, no matter if they are pink highlights, purple, or a multi-color creation, is crucial. I always wash my hair in cold water, use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, and try to limit heat styling. Dry shampoo is your best friend between washes! Regular deep conditioning treatments also help keep your hair healthy and the color locked in. Experimenting with hair color is so much fun and a great way to express yourself. Whether you're trying peekaboo highlights, a full head of Manic Panic, or a multi-color masterpiece, remember to do your research, strand test, and have fun with it!
