Learn from my mistake!

If you love photography as a hobby, please know it doesn't get easy if you decide to go full-time.

You have more responsibilities, and it takes away from the creative fun from time to time.

If you want to try to do it part time. Here are some tips

🟠 Have systems in place!

Whether it's sales funnels, payment processing, lead generations, or how to take process complaints. Having these systems in place will create the foundation

🟠 Contracts and deposits

It DOES NOT matter if your neighbor of 20+ years wants to get some updated family photos. Have them sign a contract and put SOME sort of deposit down (make sure it's non-refundable too).

Yes "professionals" do this but guess WHAT! You are a professional!

🟠 Be comfortable with being told "No" or 👻

It will happen, A LOT. Don't take it personally, always focus on improving your work, your systems, DON'T compare yourself to others, and building RELATIONSHIPS with the community around you.

... Read moreEmbarking on a photography career comes with its challenges, but by learning from the mistakes of others, you can navigate this field more effectively. First and foremost, it’s vital to have reliable systems in place, which include sales funnels and payment processing methods that streamline your workflow. This preparation sets a strong foundation for your business. Contracts and deposits are non-negotiables in the photography business. Regardless of personal relationships, always have clients sign a contract and secure a non-refundable deposit to protect your work and time. This is a standard practice among professionals, and as you transition into this role, remember that you are indeed a professional. Rejection is part of the journey; you will frequently encounter 'no' or ghosting from potential clients. It's crucial not to take this personally. Instead, focus on refining your craft, improving your systems, and building genuine relationships within the community. Networking can lead to more opportunities and collaborations. Embracing feedback, both positive and negative, will aid in your growth as a photographer. Remember, the fastest way to make money in photography often involves diversifying your skill set. Consider branching into areas such as event photography, portrait sessions, or even creating stock photos. By exploring various avenues, you can enhance your earning potential while staying true to your artistic vision. Lastly, continuously invest in your education through workshops and online courses to stay updated with industry trends and techniques.
