5 Toxic Phrases Parents Should Stop Saying 💔🙏
“Why can’t you be like your sister?” “Because I say so.” “I’m so disappointed in you.” 💔

From my own experience, phrases like “Because I say so” can feel like shutting down a child's voice, making them less likely to express their feelings or opinions in the future. When kids hear comparisons such as “Why can’t you be like your sister?”, it not only creates feelings of inadequacy but can also damage sibling relationships. It takes conscious effort, but replacing these toxic phrases with supportive language encourages respect and emotional safety. Minimizing children's feelings by telling them to "stop crying" or dismissing their emotions teaches them to hide rather than process their feelings. This can undermine their ability to set boundaries and trust their own experiences as they grow. In my journey as a parent, focusing on validating emotions and fostering open communication has greatly improved my child's confidence and our bond. Remember, every word we say as parents has a lasting impact. Encouraging kids with patience rather than disappointment helps them develop resilience and a healthy self-image, which I believe is the foundation for their future well-being.
