What I asked for vs. what I got
As soon as I showed the nail tech what I was looking for he said “I can try” 😬 and he really did
I’m such a people pleaser and could see him really trying but then again I’m so OCD and don’t think they give the same vibe.
Over all, before tip was $85.
I still think they’re cute, but not what I was going for.. ya know. What would you have done?
Sharing my nail salon experience, I realized how important clear communication and expressing your preferences are. From personal experience, showing a picture of exactly what you want can help, but sometimes the nail tech’s skills or interpretation might differ, leading to results that don’t feel quite right. It can be frustrating especially if you are a perfectionist or have a specific vibe in mind. A few tips that helped me and might help you avoid disappointment: Be very specific about the colors, shapes, and finishes you want. Don’t hesitate to ask for progress checks during the session to ensure the style matches your expectations. Also, reading reviews or asking friends for recommendations can lead you to a nail tech whose style aligns with yours. If you feel the design isn’t what you envisioned, politely sharing your concerns or requesting adjustments before the session ends can make a difference. I also learned that tipping is an important part of the experience, especially if the nail tech made a genuine effort. Even though my nails were cute, they weren’t exactly what I wanted, so understanding when to tip fairly while managing expectations is key. This whole experience taught me that while people-pleasing is natural, it’s okay to advocate for what makes you happy, especially with self-care like nails. Next time, I’ll make my vibe and OCD clearer and hope for a result that truly feels like me.
