Wow, it's so exciting to be here on Lemon8 and connect with all of you! As a new SAHM, a police wife, and a stepmom to my amazing 10-year-old, life is always an adventure. Speaking of adventures, I've noticed some of you are curious about 'vacation with my stepmom' experiences, and I totally get it! Planning family getaways can be a unique journey, especially in blended families. I'm always scanning for new ideas to make our trips memorable and fun for everyone. For me, traveling is a huge passion. You might have seen from my photos that I love being outdoors, whether it's hiking or just enjoying nature. When we plan vacations, I always try to incorporate elements that cater to everyone's interests. With my 10-year-old stepson, finding activities that bridge the age gap and create shared joy is key. It's not just about picking a destination, but about crafting experiences where everyone feels included and excited. I remember one time, we decided to visit a wildlife sanctuary (tying into my love for animals!), and seeing his face light up watching the sloths was just priceless. Those are the moments you truly cherish. One thing I've learned is the importance of open communication. Before we even start scanning for flights or hotels, we sit down and talk about what kind of vacation everyone envisions. Does my stepson want an action-packed adventure, or something more relaxed? Do we want to visit a national park where we can explore the outdoors, or a city with cool food spots? As a stepmom, I find that involving him in the planning process makes a huge difference. It helps build anticipation and ensures he feels heard, which is so important for a happy family dynamic. We often create a shared Pinterest board or even just a simple list of ideas we've all "scanned" online to get everyone excited. Sometimes, for someone like me who's worn many hats ā SAHM, police wife, former EMT ā finding the time to plan and execute a vacation can be a challenge. My husband's schedule, being a police officer, can be unpredictable, so flexibility is key. But the memories we create are priceless. I love discovering new places and trying new foods, and seeing the world through my stepson's eyes rejuvenates me. Have you ever tried a road trip where each person gets to pick a meal stop? It's a fun way to incorporate everyone's food preferences! And for staying active, whether it's a brisk walk on the beach or exploring a new city on foot, we always try to weave in some fitness too. I'm always scanning for tips on how to make blended family vacations seamless and stress-free. Whether itās finding kid-friendly activities, balancing relaxation with adventure, or just navigating the logistics, every shared insight helps! I'm hoping to share more of our travel stories and insights here as I settle into Lemon8. From budgeting for trips to finding hidden gems, I want to explore it all with you. What are your favorite vacation spots, especially with family? Any genius hacks for traveling with kids or step-kids? I'd love to hear your recommendations and learn from your experiences! Let's make every family getaway an unforgettable one!
