It’s been a MINUTE since I’ve shared anything about my breastfeeding journey. We are almost 10 months in!! My goal has always been to make it to 12 months. #mom #contentcreator #pumpandpour #momlife #breastfeeding
As I approach the 10-month mark of my breastfeeding journey, I've learned so much about the realities of pumping and storing breast milk, especially with the pump and pour method. This technique has been a game changer for me, allowing flexibility while ensuring my baby still receives the benefits of breast milk. I've found that having a content planning system for milk storage—labeling each bottle with dates and amounts—really helps avoid confusion and waste. For example, when I pump, I make sure to store the milk in small 2-ounce portions, which is perfect for quick feedings and minimizes leftover milk that needs to be discarded. One unexpected challenge I've faced is dealing with the physical discomfort that can come along with extended pumping sessions. There have definitely been moments when my breasts felt like they were going to explode if I didn't pump immediately! Taking regular breaks, using warm compresses before pumping, and ensuring my pump flanges fit well have helped alleviate this discomfort. It’s also so important to remember self-care — balancing mom life and being a content creator means my schedule can get hectic, so prioritizing rest is key. I also want to highlight the social aspect and support systems that make a huge difference. Connecting with other moms through communities and hashtags like #pumpandpour and #breastfeeding provides encouragement and practical advice, which has been invaluable for me. Although breastfeeding can feel isolating at times, sharing experiences reminds me I'm not alone. For moms aiming to reach the 12-month goal or beyond, consistency and adaptability are crucial. Whether you’re nursing, pumping, or both, listening to your body and your baby’s cues helps create a sustainable routine. Remember, every mom’s journey is unique, and it’s perfectly okay to find what works best for you and your family.
