Perfect attendance who? #parenting #perfectattendance #fyp
As a parent, I used to strive for my child to have perfect attendance at school, believing it was synonymous with success and dedication. However, over time, I realized that this ideal isn't always in the best interest of our children's health or emotional well-being. For instance, encouraging kids to stay home when they're truly unwell prevents the spread of illnesses—not just protecting their classmates but also helping them recover fully. In fact, occasional absences for rest or mental health breaks can be beneficial. It gives children the chance to recharge and cope better with stress, especially in demanding academic environments. I've observed that when my child is supported to balance school attendance with self-care, their overall performance and happiness improve significantly. The PSA (Public Service Announcement) around perfect attendance often overlooks these nuances. While regular attendance is important, parents can focus more on quality engagement, fostering a love for learning, and nurturing social skills. This mindset shift helps relieve pressure on both kids and parents and promotes a healthier approach to education and growth.
