My NOT so favorite perfume oils

Let me start off by saying I don't think any of these smell bad. I buy them based on smell so I liked it enough to buy it. Some of these just wear a little different on my skin and some others just aren't my typical smell type but there were notes in it that I liked.

Let's start with 🪴Amarige, 🪴Ysatis , 🪴Egyptian-Musk

These 3 have a more earthy smell and can be on the strong side however they do have a fruity undertone and that's what drew me to these. I typically don't wear these on my skin but I will rub these on hands then rub my hands on a blanket in the living room and that would be enough to carry that scent for up to a week in my living room.

🌹Delina, 💐Viva La Juicy

So I've smelled the actual Delina perfume and this smells just like it. My problem with it is that it wears to strong on my skin like the smell magnifies by 10 and it becomes to much for me and I currently don't have anything I feel like pairs well enough with this to help dye it down

As for Viva La Juicy idk I just don't like it as much compared to my other oils I had the perfume in the past and used up the whole bottle but I just don't gravitate to the oil version as much 🤷🏾‍♀️

Lastly its 🫧Good Girl, and 🫧NYC The scent of peace

These 2 have a soapy smell to them. Good Girl smells more like a fresh out of the shower it just smells really clean again not bad just not my go to type of smell.

NYC The scent of peace just smells like laundry detergent to me and it's not bad but I don't want to smell like I didn't rinse the soap out of my cloths lol

I'll wear these at home or on days I don't particularly have plans

... Read moreIt's funny how a scent can transport you, isn't it? Building a perfume oil collection is such a personal journey, and I’ve learned so much along the way – especially from the oils that didn't quite become my signature scent. Take Egyptian Musk, for instance. It came up in my recent reviews, and it's such a classic, but wow, it's also incredibly diverse! When I first got into perfume oils, I thought 'musk' was just one thing, but there are so many variations. Some are creamy and warm, others are clean and powdery, and some, like the one I have, lean earthy with a hint of fruit. It's fascinating because traditional Egyptian Musk is often depicted as a light, ethereal, clean, and slightly sweet scent, often derived from synthetic white musks today, though historically it might have had animalic origins. It's a fantastic base for layering because it blends so seamlessly with floral or woody notes. If you're exploring musks, don't just stop at one! Try a few different interpretations to find your perfect match. I've heard some people swear by specific indie brands for their unique takes on Egyptian Musk, claiming they have a depth you won't find anywhere else. I'm definitely curious to try more. And speaking of making the most of your collection, what do you do with those oils that just don't sing on your skin? I used to feel guilty about not loving every single drop, but I've realized there are so many creative ways to enjoy them. For those earthy scents like Amarige or Ysatis that are a bit too strong for my personal wear, I've found they're absolutely perfect for scenting my home. A few drops on a ceramic diffuser, a cotton ball tucked into a linen closet, or even rubbing them onto a blanket as I mentioned, can transform a whole room. It’s like having a revolving door of atmospheric fragrances! For something like Delina that magnified too much on my skin, I might try applying it to clothing instead of direct skin, or even mixing a tiny drop with an unscented lotion to dilute its intensity. And the ones that smell 'soapy' or like 'laundry detergent' – like Good Girl or NYC The Scent of Peace – these are surprisingly refreshing for a post-shower spritz or for keeping gym bags smelling fresh. It's all about finding their niche, right? Our skin chemistry changes, our moods change, and sometimes a scent just needs a different application. It's true that scent preferences are incredibly personal, and what one person loves, another might find overwhelming. This journey of exploring different perfume oils has really opened my eyes to the vast world of fragrances out there. It makes me wonder about how scents are perceived globally – you know, like the query about 'what country in the world smells the best.' While that's a fun thought experiment, it really highlights that every culture has its own aromatic tapestry. From the rich spices of the Middle East, the delicate florals of Asia, to the fresh, clean notes often favored in Western perfumery, there's a universe of smells. Our individual scent collection becomes a reflection of our own personal 'world' of smells. Don't be afraid to experiment, and remember that even the 'not-so-favorite' scents can teach you something valuable about your own preferences and how to use fragrance in new, exciting ways. Every bottle tells a story, even if it's one of unexpected uses!
