Hey everyone! I'm so excited to share some behind-the-scenes thoughts on my current work-in-progress, which I've titled 'Love Bite.' This story has truly taken root in my imagination, growing from a desire to explore complex, intense relationships against a backdrop that feels both beautiful and a little unsettling. It's definitely leaning into the dark romance genre, but with a unique twist that I hope you'll all find compelling. One of my biggest inspirations for the overall vibe and 'love bites aesthetic' has been the extraordinary world of 'Bones and All.' If you've seen the movie or read the book, you know it has this incredible sense of longing, isolation, and fierce loyalty. I'm particularly drawn to characters like Lee – their journey, their resilience, and the desperate search for connection in a world that often feels hostile. In 'Love Bite,' I'm channeling that same raw, melancholic beauty, imagining what it's like to find your person when the world around you is anything but conventional. It’s not about literal cannibalism, of course, but about the profound, sometimes dangerous, hunger for belonging and love that defines us. When I think about the 'love bites aesthetic,' I envision something deeply atmospheric and visually striking. It's about faded landscapes, quiet moments of intimacy, and the stark contrast between vulnerability and strength. Imagine moonlit nights, hidden havens, and protagonists whose connection feels almost fated, yet constantly challenged. I'm weaving in themes of destiny, sacrifice, and the idea that true love can thrive even in the grittiest circumstances. My characters, Rose Hernandez and Lee, are at the heart of this, navigating a world that constantly tests their bond. Maren Yearly, though not a main character, definitely left an impression on my creative process in terms of crafting characters who are outsiders seeking their place. Delving into the 'love bite background,' I'm building a world where past traumas and secrets shape present desires. It's a story that asks: what happens when your truest self is something you feel you need to hide? And what if the person who sees you completely, flaws and all, is the very one who makes you feel most alive, even if it's terrifying? This narrative explores the depths of human connection, where the 'bite' isn't just physical, but metaphorical – the indelible mark someone leaves on your soul. As I’m writing, a quote keeps resonating with me, a sentiment that feels central to the story's core: "if the whole was watching, I'd still be me, still with you. the only truth every single thing comes back to you." This perfectly encapsulates the unwavering devotion and self-acceptance that I want to portray through Rose and Lee's journey. It’s about being authentic with your partner, no matter the external judgment, and understanding that your true self is intrinsically linked to the person you love. This 'Love Bite' WIP is a passion project, and I'm pouring a lot of emotion into crafting a story that’s both thrilling and deeply moving. I hope you'll follow along as I share more glimpses into this world inspired by the unique aesthetic of 'Bones and All' and my own vision of a dark, unforgettable romance!
