AM I BEING DRAMATIC?
My childhood cat went missing today and I need advice:
First, she is 15 years old. She would rarely leave the house when she was younger. As she grew up she would be more interested in sneaking onto our back deck with us at night. Within the last 6 months (ish), she has been pretty confident in slipping out the door when someone is coming and going from the house. Thankfully, she is back at the door meowing within 30 minutes (TOPS). Typically my parents notice when she follows them out, and will bring her in with them.
My parents said they hadn’t really noticed her missing and wasnt too concerned until around 4pm. She usually naps most of the day in odd places around the house (as cats do). I don’t live at their house anymore, so I have no idea. My dad and I looked up and down the block (by foot and car), all in the bushes, in the neighbors yards, and posted on our neighborhood Facebook page. We even left water and her food outside.
I’ve never had a pet go missing before, and with her being an indoor cat… I can’t help but think the worst. my parents have a small creek behind the house where deer and coyotes travel through occasionally. They have also been seeing owls, hawks, and even a bald eagle within the last week or so. All the wild life makes me think something had to have taken her.
My boyfriend said his grandparents cat went MIA for 2 weeks and randomly came back… but I just don’t see that happening with her being so old and in love with my dad. She practically LIVES on his lap, and will meow at him when she wants more attention. am I being dramatic or what do yall think happened to my little love loaf?!
Please send prayers and positive vibes.

When a pet goes missing, it can evoke feelings of anxiety and distress, especially for indoor cats who may not have experience navigating the outside world. It's important to remain calm and take immediate action. Start by thoroughly searching your home and the surrounding area, as cats often hide in places you might not expect. Consider informing your neighbors and posting on local social media groups or neighborhood forums to get the word out. Providing a description and recent photos of your missing pet can help others identify her. Cats can sometimes return after several days, even if they are not typically exploratory. Their return can depend on various factors, including age, health, and environmental threats. Understanding typical cat behavior is also crucial; older cats may find comfort in familiar areas nearby while younger cats might venture further. Sensitivity to local wildlife, such as coyotes or hawks, is awareness that should inform your search. In proactive situations, consider keeping your cat indoors during high-risk periods. Helping others know the signs of lost pets increases chances of a quicker reunion. Sending positive thoughts and engaging your community in this search can ultimately help bring your furry loved one back home.

Omg I hate this for yu specifically since it’s a house pet I wouldn’t give up hopes mamas she would return soon cats are well know where their home is. Most likely strangers let her inside their house thinking she’s a stray cat and let come and go
