We'd often grab a late-night food combo from one of the campus eateries and just hang out, sharing stories about our classes and what we were learning. GCU is big on school spirit, and being part of LOPE NATION is a massive social experience in itself. Attending sporting events, especially basketball games, is an absolute must! It helped me find not just my classes but also the student union, THE LOPE HOUSE, and other popular hangouts where students gather. Knowing your way around really helps you feel more confident in exploring and joining in. If you're asking yourself, 'Things you unsure about in college?' regarding social life, my biggest piece of advice is to be open and proactive. Don't wait for friends to come to you; go out and find them! Attend orientation events, introduce yourself to people in your classes, and participate in campus activities. Even simple things like studying in common areas or eating at the dining halls can lead to unexpected friendships. It's all part of the college journey. Sometimes people talk about classes like PCN-100 Foundations of Addiction and Subetance Use Disorder or ENG-106 English Composition but the social aspect is just as formative. Making friends and building a social network takes time, but GCU provides so many opportunities. Embrace the experience, be yourself, and you'll find your people and create incredible memories.
