Widener University: Alumni Perspective
Widener University is located in Chester, PA about 30 minutes from center city and 30 minutes from the suburb I grew up in.
I chose widener because it was close to home and was a small campus. Once I arrived I was definitely able to make my time on campus specific to my interest. I majored in English, joined Delta Sigma Theta, and made many connections with friends and professors.
At the time there was a small population of black students back in 2013-2017 but now there is a thriving black community on campus. From an almost full D9 community, a black dance troop, BSU and more.
I am proud to be an alumni of Widener University.

The growth of the Black community on campus over the years reflects the university’s dedication to creating a supportive environment for all. Students can take part in numerous extracurricular activities that promote cultural awareness and personal development, further enriching the university experience. The evolution of campus life from 2013 to 2023 highlights Widener's commitment to diversity and building a sense of belonging, which is vital for any institution aiming for academic excellence.
