Natasha Denona Foundation

I am 43, few fine lines and wrinkles, sensitive skin. I recently did a check of my foundations and realized that most of the foundation that I currently have is for dry skin not oily/combo skin. I saw some really good reviews for this foundation so I decided to give it a try. And it is a water based formula.

ND Hy-Glam Foundation is advertised as being hydrating and blurring long wear radiant serum foundation. This product has medium buildable coverage, a blurring finish, claims to be self setting, short and long-term hydration, balances excess oils, safer sensitive skin, and long lasting up to 18 hours.

This is a lighter weight foundation but I still definitely feel if you need more buildable coverage that is possible with this product. I used it for the first time and tried setting my under eyes with powder and I just felt like it just looked like crap. So I washed my makeup off and I tried it again this time I did not set my under eyes like I typically would have and I used no concealer. I used a matte primer and then just tried this foundation.

Part of the trick with this foundation is that you just need to put the foundation on and let it sit for a little bit. Allow at the time to self set. Then I did my liquid blush followed it up with my favorite powder blush to set that area and then I used Fenty Bright fix pressed powder in the color rose quartz just to blur my blush the tiniest bit, but not using it directly under underneath my eye.

I really love the Haus Labs foundation, but it really is better for somebody that has dry skin as opposed to combination skin. Once the formula dried down which really only took maybe 10 minutes I saw no need to use any powder anywhere else.

... Read moreOkay, so you've heard the buzz about Natasha Denona's Hy-Glam Foundation, and like me, you're probably wondering if it's really worth the hype, especially if you have tricky oily or combination skin. My journey with this foundation has been a revelation, and I've picked up some extra tips and insights I wish I knew sooner! First off, let's talk about that "water-based" claim. For those of us battling excess oil, a water-based formula is often a godsend. Unlike heavier, oil-based foundations that can feel suffocating and sometimes lead to breakouts or a greasy finish, water-based formulas tend to be lighter, allowing your skin to breathe. They often provide a more natural, skin-like finish and are less likely to clog pores. This is a huge plus for my sensitive, oily/combo skin. It feels weightless, almost like a second skin, which is exactly what I look for in a daily foundation. It really helps balance out my T-zone without making my drier areas feel parched. Choosing the right shade can be daunting, right? Especially when you're buying online or in-store without perfect lighting. The Natasha Denona Hy-Glam range offers a fantastic selection, and I’ve seen them beautifully showcased on models. When I'm testing shades, I always make sure to apply a few small swatches directly to my jawline and let them sit for a couple of minutes. This helps me see how the foundation oxidizes and truly blends with my neck and face. I've personally seen shades like RN1, NO.5, Y1, N1, P1, and R2, which cover a good spectrum of fair to medium tones with different undertones. Don't be afraid to ask for samples if you can, or test in natural light before committing. Getting that perfect match, especially with a foundation this good, makes all the difference! And the bottle itself? It's chic and functional! The Natasha Denona foundation comes in a sleek, elegant bottle, typically with a pump dispenser that makes it easy to control how much product you're using. The light-colored liquid inside is visible, which is great for seeing how much is left. It feels substantial and looks beautiful on my vanity. The matching cap keeps everything secure, making it travel-friendly too. It's clear that thought went into both the formula and the presentation. Now, for some application hacks I've discovered to truly unlock this foundation's potential for long wear and oil control. While the article mentioned letting it self-set (which is crucial!), I've also found that preparing your skin correctly makes a massive difference. For my oily/combo skin, a good mattifying primer in my T-zone is non-negotiable. I like to apply a thin layer and let it absorb for a few minutes before going in with the foundation. For application, I prefer using a damp beauty sponge for a more natural, blended finish, pressing it into the skin rather than swiping. If I need a bit more coverage, a flat-top brush works wonders, but I always follow up with the sponge to remove any brush strokes. To maximize its 18-hour wear claim, after letting it self-set and doing my cream/liquid products, I sparingly use a very fine setting powder only where absolutely necessary (like around my nose or chin). For my under-eyes, I stick to the "no powder" rule or use a super light dusting if I absolutely must, but usually, I let the foundation do its blurring magic there. A good setting spray at the end also locks everything in, especially on days when I need it to last through a long workday or event. This foundation truly holds up against oil throughout the day, leaving me with a beautiful, radiant finish without looking greasy. It’s a true workhorse for sensitive, oily/combo skin types!

Wore it all day. Put it through a good wear test. Took a nap. Cooked dinner made cookies. Definitely started to get pretty warm in the kitchen. I was really impressed by the longevity of this and how well everything just stayed to put, reduced pores.
