📌 How I Get My Twist Outs So Defined Every Time 👀✨
✨ HOW I DO MY FAMOUS TWIST OUT ✨
Y'all ask me all the time how I get my twist outs so defined, soft, and moisturized, so here's the full breakdown 👇🏽
🧴 STEP 1: START WITH CLEAN HAIR
* Wash hair thoroughly
* Apply leave-in conditioner while hair is still damp
* Pay extra attention to the middle of my hair since that's my coarsest area
* Let my hair dry completely overnight in twists
💦 STEP 2: RE-DAMPEN THE HAIR
The next day, I do a quick rinse in the shower just to dampen my hair.
* Not soaking wet
* Just enough moisture to make it easier to work with
Then I gently towel dry.
✂️ STEP 3: SECTION THE HAIR
I separate my hair into 4 sections:
* 2 in the front
* 2 in the back
I make sure the middle section gets enough attention because that's where my texture is the thickest and most stubborn.
🖤 STEP 4: PRODUCT APPLICATION
For each section:
* Thoroughly comb through the hair
* Apply Murray's Beeswax Natural Loc Holding Cream from scalp to ends
* Follow with African Pride Shea Miracle Twist & Loc Smoothie
* Comb through again to evenly distribute the products
This combination gives me the moisture AND hold I need without my hair feeling crunchy.
✨ STEP 5: BRAID & ROD
Depending on the look I'm going for:
* I either braid the hair all the way down
OR
* Braid halfway and use a flexi/cold wave rod on the ends
This helps create extra definition and keeps the ends looking good.
⏰ STEP 6: LET IT DRY
I don't sit under a dryer.
I usually let my hair air dry for several hours or overnight.
Patience is the hardest part, but trust me... it's worth it.
