Y’all… Lena Waithe’s team really DM’d ME?! 😭❤️

If you know me, you KNOW I’ve been locked in with The Chi since Season 1. So when the final season came around, I decided I wanted to recap it in real time — hot takes, polls, unpopular opinions and ALL. 😂

What I didn’t expect was for any of the people actually connected to the show to notice me.

Then Lena interacted with my content. 🥹

And a few days later, I got a DM from someone on her team saying:

“She’d love to send you some merch.”

BABY. 😭

First of all… WHO AM I?! 😂 Because why is Lena Waithe’s team in MY DMs asking for MY address?!

I’m not even gonna lie — I was hesitant at first. 😂 But eventually I sent my information, put it out of my mind and figured if something came, it came.

Then today I walked in the house and saw a FedEx package waiting for me…

And immediately lost my mind. 😭😂

This is genuinely one of my first moments of feeling like “damn… people are actually seeing what I create.”

I started talking about The Chi because I LOVE the show. I found a community of people who wanted to laugh, debate and cut up about it with me every week — and somehow that led to THIS.

I’m grateful as hell. 🥹❤️

Nowwww… what exactly did they send me?!

Baby, that’s where this gets FUNNY. 😂😂😂

PART 2: Apparently I work at Smokey’s now. 😭🍖

... Read moreAs a content creator who has been deeply engaged with the TV show The Chi since its very first season, I can genuinely say that being recognized by someone like Lena Waithe’s team feels surreal and affirming. For anyone on a creator journey, this kind of interaction is a reminder that authenticity and consistent passion can truly resonate with both audiences and industry professionals. Revisiting my experience, I started sharing my thoughts, hot takes, and even unpopular opinions about the show in real-time during its final season. The real joy was in building a community where people could laugh, debate, and share their love for The Chi along with me. Moments like these highlight the power of community-building in content creation — it’s not just about posting, but fostering connections. When the message came from Lena Waithe’s team offering to send me some merch, I was hesitant but also excited. Receiving a FedEx package with branded items, including a full Smokey’s Barbecue uniform, felt like a tangible milestone in my creator career. It showed me that genuine engagement and dedication can catch the attention of creators and teams behind the shows we love. This experience taught me the importance of keeping the faith in content creation, even when growth seems slow or unnoticed. Sometimes, the best moments come unexpectedly, turning your hobby and passion into something truly meaningful. For anyone creating content around their favorite shows or interests, here are a few tips I’d recommend based on what helped me: - Be consistent: Posting regularly about what you're passionate about increases your chances of connecting with like-minded audiences and even the creators themselves. - Engage authentically: Participate in conversations with your followers; respond to comments and polls to build a community. - Don’t be afraid of unpopular opinions: They can spark meaningful discussions and set your content apart. - Stay patient and humble: Recognition often comes when you least expect it. Keep creating for the love of it. Remember, every creator’s path is unique. But when moments like a team DM from Lena Waithe show up, it makes all the effort and vulnerability worth it. So, if you’re wondering whether to keep posting — this is your sign to keep going!
