... Read moreOkay, Lemon8 fam, let's talk about the real horror show of Halloween: the terrible candy that always seems to sneak into our trick-or-treat bags! I've seen so many discussions about the worst candies, and after much debate (and some genuinely unpleasant taste tests), I'm ready to share my definitive, completely unofficial ranking of the absolute worst Halloween candies. You might agree, you might disagree, but trust me, these are the ones I dread finding!
Coming in at the top of my 'do not want' list, of course, is Candy Corn. Seriously, who invented this waxy, overly sweet triangle? It's consistently ranked as the #1 worst candy by so many people, and I'm right there with them. The texture, the cloying sweetness... it's just not right.
Then we have Licorice. Now, I know some people love it, but for me, it's a hard pass. Especially the black kind – it tastes like an unholy mix of anise and regret. It often features high on those 'worst candy ranked' lists, and I can totally see why. Good & Plenty falls into this category for me too; it's just too much.
And let's not forget the infamous Circus Peanuts. These lurid orange monstrosities are baffling. They're neither peanut nor marshmallow, and their bizarre, dusty texture and artificial banana flavor are truly a crime against confectionery. They're consistently a top contender for the title of what is the worst candy.
Other contenders that often make my cringe list include Necco Wafers. Talk about chalky! They dissolve into a strange, powdery substance in your mouth, and while some flavors are okay, others are just... not. Speaking of wafers, what about Smarties? While less offensive than Necco Wafers, they still fall flat for me. They're just compressed sugar, offering little in terms of flavor or texture excitement. If I had to pick between Necco Wafers vs Smarties, I'd probably still skip both, but Smarties are slightly more tolerable in a pinch.
We also can't overlook Tootsie Rolls. While some might consider them a classic, their waxy chew and mild chocolate flavor often leave me wanting more – like, real chocolate. And then there are Peanut Butter Kisses, those sticky orange or black taffy-like candies wrapped in wax paper. They always get stuck in my teeth, and the peanut butter flavor is seldom good.
Finally, the often forgotten but equally terrible Bit-O-Honey and Wax Cola Bottles. Bit-O-Honey is notorious for pulling out fillings (not worth the risk!), and Wax Cola Bottles? You're literally chewing on flavored wax. What's the appeal?
So, there you have it: my personal rundown of the candies that make me say 'no, thank you' every Halloween. What are your most hated trick-or-treat finds? Share your halloweenhottake!
