OURA RING REVIEW

One question I often get asked about my Oura Ring, similar to the silver-colored ring you see in the image, is which hand and finger I choose to wear it on. It might seem like a small detail, but for optimal tracking and comfort, it actually makes a difference! When I first got mine, I spent a little time experimenting, trying it on different fingers and hands. Officially, Oura often suggests wearing the ring on your non-dominant hand for the most accurate readings. The logic behind this is that your non-dominant hand typically experiences less movement and impact throughout the day, which can lead to more consistent heart rate variability (HRV), heart rate, and temperature data. For me, as a right-handed person, wearing it on my non-dominant (left) hand has felt incredibly natural. I mostly wear it on my left middle finger, just like it's often pictured, and I've found this spot offers a snug yet comfortable fit without feeling restrictive or getting in the way of my day-to-day tasks like typing or cooking. I've definitely noticed the benefits of this placement, especially with sleep tracking. My sleep scores and insights feel incredibly precise, and I rarely get any data gaps. If I were to wear it on my dominant hand, I’d worry about it getting bumped more often, potentially affecting the sensor's contact with my skin or even increasing the chances of scratches – a minor issue I already face, as mentioned in my review! While Oura rings are built to be durable, minimizing potential impacts is always a good idea. However, it's not a hard and fast rule. Some people find their dominant hand more comfortable, or perhaps their non-dominant hand has a finger size that doesn't quite match the Oura ring's fit. The most important thing is to ensure a snug fit where the sensors on the inside of the ring have consistent contact with your skin. If your dominant hand offers a better fit on, say, your index or middle finger, that's perfectly fine! The key is comfort and consistency. I'd recommend trying it out on both your dominant and non-dominant hands, on different fingers (index, middle, or ring finger are usually best), to see what feels most natural and provides the best data for your unique lifestyle. After all, the best Oura Ring experience is one that you barely notice you're wearing, allowing it to seamlessly integrate into your wellness journey.
