From my own experience, I’ve noticed that many high-achieving entrepreneurs hit a ceiling of dissatisfaction despite their obvious external successes. Despite having substantial income, dream assets, and recognition, there still lingers a sense of restlessness or lack of peace. This feeling often stems from equating worth and security solely to monetary achievements, which can create an unhealthy dependence on external validation. During one particularly stressful period in my career, I realized that even though I was hitting every financial milestone, my internal experience was one of anxiety and exhaustion. What helped me was shifting my focus inward and acknowledging that true fulfillment doesn’t come from accumulating more stuff or money but from cultivating safety and freedom internally. It was a gradual process of learning to rest without guilt and finding joy in what I already had. I also learned that when we rely on external accomplishments to define our safety and self-worth, fluctuations in business or income naturally cause internal turmoil. Detaching those two—our worth and our net worth—is essential. Instead of chasing the next income goal, focusing on internal growth, self-compassion, and spiritual well-being fosters a sustainable sense of freedom and peace. Many women entrepreneurs I’ve spoken with have expressed similar struggles. They create impressive success externally, but internally they feel dysregulated and bound to work incessantly. It’s important to acknowledge that money can amplify existing feelings if the internal work isn’t addressed first.
