BUSTING 5 COLLEGE MYTHS 🍋

College is full of surprises, but some of the things I'm sure you've heard are just MYTHS. Here are five common ones I’ve BUSTED through my own experience—and why you don’t need to stress over them! 💛🎓

🍋 You’ll Have No Free Time: As a nursing major, people always said I’d be drowning in assignments with zero time for myself, but that hasn’t been true! ⏰ Time management is everything. I’ve found time for late-night Netflix binges, gym sessions 💪, and even spontaneous cross-island day trips—all while staying on top of my classes.

🍋 You HAVE to Party: Trust me, I’ve skipped plenty of parties and still had an amazing social life. 🎉 Some of my favorite college memories are chill game nights, midnight food runs, and grabbing coffee with friends ☕. Parties are fun, but they’re not the only way to connect!

🍋 The “Freshman 15”: I stressed about this one SO much before moving to campus. But the reality? Your weight might fluctuate, but staying active (like walking to class 🚶) and finding balance with food makes all the difference. Plus, dining hall pizza 🍕 isn’t as tempting as it sounds after a week!

🍋 If You Don’t Make Friends Immediately, You Won’t Make Friends at All: My closest college friends didn’t come until halfway through freshman year! 💕 Friendships take time, and that’s totally okay. Get involved in clubs, strike up conversations in class 📚, and don’t rush it— I PROMISE your people are out there.

🍋 You Can’t Be Successful and Have a Good Social Life: It is not just one or the other. Balancing both takes effort, but it’s so doable 🏆 I’ve pulled all A’s in my hardest classes while still making time for all of my friends and fun activities. Success isn’t about sacrifice—it’s about balance!

It's crucial to adopt a balanced approach to food and fitness during your college years. Additionally, students might feel pressured to make friends instantly, but forming lasting friendships often takes time. Many students establish their best relationships later in their first year or even in subsequent years. Lastly, the belief that you can’t have a successful academic and social life is misleading. Many students achieve high grades while actively participating in social events. Finding that equilibrium between study and leisure is possible with discipline and planning.
