Countdown to the Crown: Day 8 – Why Petite USA?

I discovered Petite USA in the most unexpected way—through a “person you may know” suggestion. It was @hannah.karki , the reigning Teen Petite USA, reading her children’s book aloud to kids at the library. My first thought was, you can do that in pageantry? You guys know I have ADHD, so my curiosity was instantly piqued. Not only was I inspired by her presence, but I loved her platform. That’s when the deep-dive began. I watched 2 to 3 pageants just to feel it out. After last year’s experience, the research was necessary.

What I found was more beautiful than I ever expected.

In 2023, the Petite USA organization and its entire class paused during competition to honor a sister queen who had passed away. They spoke love over her life, held space for her parents, and shared her light with the world. There was no stigma. No hiding. Just empathy, respect, and genuine sisterhood. They didn’t just talk about mental health—they made it visible. They didn’t just speak about service—they embodied it.

I chose Petite USA because the sisterhood is what little Dez craved, the voice is what she needed—and this is more than a pageant; it’s a movement rooted in purpose just like When Roses Bloom.
