I tried Lagree for the first time over the weekend to see if there is a difference between it and solidcore. Ofcourse both classes are challenging but it’s safe to say I prefer solidcore. I’m in the gym 5 days per week and I try to focus on legs/glutes and weight lifting so when I do Pilates/solidcore, I try to focus more on my abs, core and obliques. I didn’t get that from Lagree. It definitely seem to focus more on the lower body. Maybe I need to do a few more classes to give a better overview. The machines are also very much different (see the last to photos)All in all it was a good experience💜
... Read moreIt's so interesting to hear about your first Lagree experience and how it compared to Solidcore! I totally get wanting to find that perfect core burn, especially when you're already crushing it with legs and glutes in the gym. Many of us are on a similar journey, trying to figure out which high-intensity, Pilates-inspired workout truly delivers on our fitness goals.
When we talk about Lagree and Solidcore, while both are incredibly challenging and use reformer-like machines, they definitely have their own unique vibes and focuses. You hit on a key difference – the machines! The Megaformer used in Lagree is designed for slow, controlled movements that engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously, leading to that full-body shake. It's fantastic for building muscular endurance and strength, and yes, it often feels like a serious lower body workout, though your core is constantly engaged for stability. Classes often flow through various planks, lunges, and pikes, all designed to push you to muscle failure.
On the other hand, Solidcore utilizes its own custom reformer, often called 'The Machine.' From my experience and what I've heard from others, Solidcore tends to place a very strong emphasis on the core, obliques, and smaller stabilizing muscles. The movements are typically even slower and more deliberate, often holding isometric positions for extended periods. This focus on deep core engagement is why many, like yourself, feel that intense abdominal burn and appreciate it for targeted core work. So, if you're really chasing those abs and obliques, Solidcore often gets the nod.
Now, let's touch on a common question: 'Is Lagree or Pilates better for weight loss?' Both Lagree and Solidcore (which is often described as 'Pilates on steroids') are excellent for building lean muscle mass. More muscle means a higher resting metabolism, which can aid in weight loss over time. They are also incredibly intense, burning a good number of calories during a session. However, it's important to remember that sustained weight loss is a holistic journey that combines consistent activity, a balanced diet, and overall lifestyle. Neither workout is a magic bullet, but incorporating them into a well-rounded fitness routine can certainly contribute to your goals. Traditional Pilates, while often less intense in terms of cardio burn, is phenomenal for building foundational core strength, flexibility, and body awareness, which are crucial for any fitness regimen.
Ultimately, like you said, sometimes you need a few more classes to get a full picture. The best way to decide between Lagree and Solidcore (or even traditional Pilates) is to try them out yourself and see what resonates with your body and your goals. Whether you’re looking for a full-body challenge, a killer core workout, or just something to complement your weightlifting routine, both offer incredible benefits. Just be prepared to sweat and shake – that's part of the fun!
